The whole Paris Fashion week roared with amusement as Balenciaga Shoes Paris catwalk showcased models wearing platform Crocs. This brand has been in the spotlight since April after the release of its $2,000 worth Blue leather “IKEA” bags. They have, once again, made their way in the curious eyes of the spectators by sending out 5 pairs of comfortable, invincible but undoubtedly hideous Crocs sandals on the runway.
All the fashionistas had a very strong reaction regarding this. Tyler McCall couldn’t believe that is was actually happening. That Balenciaga Shoes Paris catwalk actually used platform crocs. Alyssa Vingan, another fashionista, said that ” this is not a drill, there are platform crocs at Balenciaga Shoes Paris Catwalk.
Demna Gvasalia is a very famous designer of Balenciaga. He is known for seeing the beauty in the timeworn things. He is also criticized by some for redesigning the clothes for the poor to be worn by the rich. But has an awesome record of making immensely chic clothes, especially shoes.
He designed Thigh-high Spandex boots which are loved and worn by many celebrities and fashionistas. The genius has to work with crocs which, according to one saying, has holes in them so your dignity could leak from it. But these gruesome shoes have been making their way into the world. The previous year, a Scottish designer launched a range of fur-lined and crystal-encrusted Crocs ranging from 500 euro to above.
Vogue was all up for it and loved their comfort. Whereas, Julia Hobbs who is a critic said that they are legit ugly and no one can deny that. She also went ahead and added quiet bluntly that they have pores like nostril and an upturned snout. When adults wear them, they repeal the onlookers.
Gvasalia, who is the face behind extremely chic Vetements label was not amused by them either. He was also not impressed by the transformed fringed sun umbrellas into skirts and shop awning into trousers in Balenciaga Shoes Paris catwalk.
However, this collection was more streamline than shocking. It has made great use of tartan in trousers, tops along with skirts. These were often paired with chain straps picked up from duty-free shops. The pants were made out of flares from different trouser put together. This gave a feel that they are aiming to be a Gvasalia staple along with thigh- high boots and buttoned charity shop shirts.
Another amazing feature of these clothes was their “Alter-ability”. There were options available to interchange parts of pants like modular tracksuits. He also introduced his “Super-spiked stilettos” which went down fine. There was trouser which screensaver of Alps on them. He seemed to be celebrating the unfashionable-ness of this collection. He also seemed inspired by his IKEA tote. Hence, he designed another one that looked like a cheap Thai shopping bag.
Givenchy’s Sleek Elegance
How can we explain this collection? A sweater was tied around a newspaper print blouse as a strait-jacket. Still, the Georgian based creator of this catastrophe could not be tamed down. He was charming and full of surprises.
He is the man who likes to take inspiration from borrowed, tweaked and hijacked stuff. It looked like he was trying to pay a tribute to the print king Van Noten with his rich palette of colors. Which shocked the group suitable for Balenciaga’s aristocratic roots.
People were also looking forward to the debut of Clare Waight. Which turned out to be just like her personality, low-key and sophisticated. She said that seduction is the key and it should be channeled in a way that things could be imagined. If not seen. This statement gave the brand its classiness and elegance.
A lot went down at the Paris Fashion Week, but Balenciaga Paris catwalk was the highlight of the event for us.
